Rock on! Speck gets written up in the Rolling Stone Magazine!

Many people know that the Speck staff is comprised of rockers and music fans. So being the horns-throwing, hair-farming headbangers that we are, naturally we got quite a thrill when we came across a writeup of our Fitted “Headphones” case while paging through this month’s Rolling Stone Magazine!

And about the design choices… this article must have been written before they saw all nine of our new Fitted patterns, not to mention our original Fitted Artsprojekt line!

Eight New Fab Fitted Designs!

Speck hopes that when you put your iPhone 3G or 3GS in a Fitted fabric-wrapped case, it will muster that same warm feeling of your favorite coat or sweater. And now, with eight new awesome patterns, chances are you’ll find one that transforms your iPhone into your own little fashion “mini-me”!

Our design team is currently sequestered in their loft, (yes they work in a loft. No, they leave their Star Wars sheets at home) scheming and designing new cases, bags, and more awesome Speck “stuff” for iPad. While we can’t yet share any of the details and concepts of what we’ve got coming up for iPad (except for this teaser: as you may have guessed, they will all be awesome) – we’d like to hear from YOU on what you think about the iPad in general: if you think you might get one, how and where you’d use it, what kind of cases, bags, and stuff you think would be cool to accessorize it with!

Live Art At CES Produces Real Life Fitted Cases!

In addition to the usual games, beer and debauchery at our CES booth, hundreds of Speck fans who came to chill with us on Thursday and Friday this year had the pleasure of witnessing the creation of what will soon become an actual Artsprojekt Fitted case!

Representing the talented group of artists that make up our new partner Artsprojekt in our first-ever live painting exhibit, founder Andy Howell and artist Jim Mahfood worked diligently to create a couple of totally sick original pieces. Although everyone in the Speck crew was crazy busy helping people snag swag with “The Claw” and jiggling the old-school Speck-stocked vending machine, it was fun stealing quickie breaks to run over and witness these wild talents at work.

Both artists boasting an impressive list of credentials. Art geeks and skateboard dweebs alike delighted in Andy’s presence, well-known for work he has done for Juxtapoz Magazine and graphics he created for New Deal, a company he also skated for professionally. With an equally impressive resume, Jim has created art for The Sarah Silverman Program, Kevin Smith’s “Clerks,” Marvel and D.C. Comics and many more clients worldwide.

Not only was this foray into these artistic minds amazing to passers-by, onlookers were also witnessing the creation of the next addition to our new Fitted Artsprojekt line!

SPECK, CES AND A NEW MILLENIUM!

Having proven again this year that the CandyShell (and Candyman!) really CAN, the Speck crew is finally back in Palo Alto after a wild week in Las Vegas at CES 2010. Featuring games, beer, live art, tons of prizes and an uber tasty display, this years booth was poppin’ and rockin’ non-stop as thousands of people stopped by to see what the buzz was all about (or try to catch a little buzz on our free beer.)

Highlights included the live art created by new Speck friends Andy Howell and Jim Mahfood of Artsprojekt, who are cranking out super sick art on custom Fitted cases, and another killer award to add to our bag of tricks, iLounge’s “Best in Show” for our new Seethru Satin cases for iPhone 3G and 3GS (check out their full listing of awards here.) And, of course, it is always rad to watch people take a shot at “Dance, Dance Revolution” and “The Claw” for free cases!
