Fitted Case Fits Professional Snowboard Photag’s Lifestyle!

From constant communication with the worlds top female snowboarders regarding when and where to shred the world’s freshest pow-pow, to staying in touch with her family and friends in Oregon, Professional Snowboard Photographer Christy Chaloux’s iPhone is constantly “off the hook!” That’s why she protects her darling while dressing it in a fancy winter coat-like Houndstooth Fitted case by Speck Products.

“I like that the fabric of my case makes it less slippery,” said Christy. “I’m always dropping my phone and juggling like 10,000 things- camera equipment and stuff- so the fabric hard shell really works for me and mi vida loca.”

Every winter, from around November to April, Christy leaves her home in Portland to jet around the globe capturing the world-class athleticism of Leanne Pelosi, Janna Meyen, Natasza Zurek and more of the world’s elite. Summers she spends on her skateboard, cruising the concrete skate parks of Oregon or in her hometown of Seaside, surfing with her dad. Recently, on a short break from her busy winter schedule, Christy squeezed in a quick skate session and happy hour with friends. While running out to her truck, her phone slipped out of her pocket, landing face down on a rainy Portland sidewalk.

“It was fine; not even a scratch!” Said Christy. “Thanks to my uber-cool Speck case!”

Keep up with Christy’s crazy winter adventures on her Transworld Snowboarding Blog and check out www.christychaloux.com to peep out some of her awesome photos!

Top 10 Bad Bunnies of Modern Pop-Culture History

What is it with bunnies, the sweet, innocent, hoppin’ soft balls of fur that they are… being portrayed as bad, sinister, evil, mischeivious?!
As a lifelong fan of bunnies, both “good” and “bad” I thought I’d take this opportunity to document my favorite 10 baddest bunnies of modern pop culture history.

1. “Frank” from Donnie Darko

donnie-darko1

Even the pros would have to agree that “Frank” from Donnie Darko is the baddest, scariest bunny ever. Is he the harbinger of death? Is he a dead man in a bunny costume? A hallucination or a time traveler with a message? Whatever he is, he’s one creepy bunny.

2. Rabbit of Caerbannog from Monty Python & The Holy Grail

rabbit-montypython

Yeah! This guy is quite the bad bunny himself! Quoted in the film as “the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on!” and “that rabbit’s got a vicious streak a mile wide! It’s a killer!”  This bunny is almost unstoppable and viciously kills all in its path, but is eventually stopped by the holy hand grenade of Antioch…. Which coincidentally, a replica of the holy hand grenade of Anitoch recently caused quite a stir in a London Pub…

3. Frank Kozik’s Smorkin’ Labbits
smorkinlabbits
What’s NOT bad about a bunny rabbit with a filthy habit of smokin’ ciggies?! These little vinyl dudes from artist Frank Kozik are just what evil bunny loving smokers worldwide have been asking for.  Available in all kinds of sizes, colors and evil variations!

4. It’s Happy Bunny the Bunny

itshappybunny
Aaah, the happy smile of  “It’s Happy Bunny” by Jim Benton, innocent, benign, sweet, at first glance… and then he opens his mouth. With plenty of rudely hilarious things to say like “when life gives you lemons, squirt juice in your enemies eye” and  “hey you made me throw up a little” – It’s Happy Bunny always has something smarmy to say, and he says it with a smile!

5. Raving Rabbids From Rayman Raving Rabbids Game for Nintendo Wii

rayman-raving-rabbids-screenshot-big
If you’ve never played “Rayman Raving Rabbids” by Ubisoft (the FIRST game, not the second!!) for Nintendo Wii, you’ve got to check it out! In a series of hilarious mini-games, Rayman fights armies of evil little freaky bunnies, who first keep Rayman a prisoner, but grow to respect him as Rayman completes more missions. These “Raving Rabbids” show no mercy, with crazy weapons, machinery, guerilla tactics, and evil screams… the Raving Rabbids are some bad, bad bunnies!

6. Playboy Bunnies

steinem
There really isn’t much “bad” can we say about these lovely ladies. Mostly known for their beauty and notoriously “bad girl” image (shamelessly sexy & flirty…) did you know the original Playboy bunnies were cocktail waitresses at the Playboy Club, and were required to be able to identify 143 brands of liquor and know how to garnish 20 cocktail variations?! Damn girls! You go!!

7. The evil bunnies from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (and Anya in the bunny costume)

anyabunny
According to Anya from Buffy, there is no top ten: all bunnies are evil. She made her case most dramatically when, under the influence of a demon’s spell which caused everyone to break out in song, she belted out her theory in a pyrotechnic screamo solo: “Bunnies aren’t just cute like everybody supposes. They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses, and what’s with all the carrots? What do they need such good eyesight for anyway? BUNNIES! BUNNIES! IT MUST BE BUNNIES! …or maybe midgets.” Good point.

8. Were Rabbit- Wallace and Grommit

wallace-were-rabbit2

A fantastically funny tale, with some pretty bad bunnies! What to do when the town’s produce starts going missing (the horror!!) Wallace and Grommit set out to find the culprit… who is of course… a very bad bunny.
9. Boingo Bunny from “Hoodwinked”

boingo

Who DIDN”T see this fantastic film starring the incredibly evil mastermind… Boingo the Bunny!! Well if you missed it, the evil bunny song-and-dance part is conveniently available on youtube for your viewing pleasure…

10. Jessica Rabbit from “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”

jessicarabbit

Ok, ok, she’s a cartoon lady and not a real rabbit (a point we debated heavily in the office this morning…) but she did marry a rabbit and her last name IS Rabbit… and… she’s not bad, she’s just drawn that way… so… why did we even include her on this list of Bad Bunnies?! To make it an even 10 bad bunnies! And… because no matter how we tried to make him bad, Bugs Bunny just didn’t’ make the cut. Sorry, Bugs!!
Thanks for reading and have a bunny-rific weekend!

Who says Product Development never gets out??

In celebration of Jenna the Intern’s completion of her 3-month stint with Speck, the Product Development department escaped from their loft-like laboratory, venturing out to take the World Famous Factory Tour at the Jelly Belly Factory in Fairfield, CA.

Bidding adieu to Jenna was already bittersweet, but added to the aroma of pineapple, apricot, and other flavors being transformed into sugary Jelly Belly goodness, it proved to be an extra-sensory experience. And, of course, an interesting education on how this delicious little product is manufactured.

To top off this tasteful afternoon, the group lunched at the Jelly Belly Cafe, where they enjoyed Jelly Belly-shaped hotdogs and smily-face shaped fries.

Many thanks and good luck to Jenna, (third from right) who is returning to the University of Cincinnati to complete her degree in Industrial Design!
