Benefits
  • Dual-layer protection. Patented design provides two layers of protection in a single-piece construction that’s easy to put on and take off.
  • Impact resistant. Hard shell exterior guards against impact, while glossy finish helps these iPhone 5s and iPhone 5 covers slide in and out of pockets with ease.
  • Shock absorbent. Soft, rubbery interior and reinforced corners absorb shock from occasional bumps and drops.
  • Detailed to defend. Raised bezel protects screen from impact and adds grip so your phone can lie face down on tables or dashboards without sliding. Rubberized covers shield volume and power buttons while keeping them fully accessible.
  • Lab-tested proven protection. Like all Speck cases, this CandyShell stood up to extreme temperatures, repeated functionality testing, and even everyday spills like greasy suntan lotion.
  • Long live promise. Backed by Speck’s 1 year warranty.
    • Fits iPod touch 4G
    • Patented unibody hard/soft design combines the flexibility of a skin with the durability of a hard shell
    • Glossy outer shell protects from scratches and scrapes, and slides easily into and out of pockets
    • Rubberized interior layer offers shock absorption to protect against drops
    • Raised screen bezel and rubberized button covers add protection and grip

This is a wonderful case. Speck is a quality brand. I bought this case (in BatWing black) from an Apple store when I purchased my iPod Touch 4th Generation (also in black). After about six months of use, here are my thoughts.
      Pros:
-Shock absorbent: I have dropped my iPod (with this case on it, of course) countless times, and not a scratch to the device.
-Raised lip: There is a solid millimeter or two of material that lifts the face of the phone up. This is entirely necessary for proper device protection.
-Face grip: This case is very tacky when laid on its face. This prevents the phone from sliding on its face on common surfaces.
-Looks: This is more of a personal opinion, but I think this is a nice looking case.

      Cons:
-Price: This is not a complete con, but for the device, it's overpriced a bit. The same case for the iPhone is the same price. IPods are not extremely expensive, therefore this case shouldn't be. However, it is a very nice case, and does its job quite well.
-Bottom bezel (rubber piece below the square home button): As other reviewers mentioned, this falls apart. After a few weeks, the hard shell part began to crack and weaken. This is a fragile piece. The soft rubber portion has remained intact, but would likely fall off under further use (I now have an iPhone, so the iPod will not be used much).

As an additional note, upon removing the case much more than necessary (I tend to get antsy when bored), the hard portion of the case has cracked in numerous places. However, this has yet to jeopardize the integrity of the case in any noticeable way.

Overall, and excellent case. For those with butterfingers, I would shoot for something with a little more grip (such as Speck's Candyshell Grip case, which I intend to purchase for my iPhone), as this case can be a wee bit slippery on the sides. However, this is not a major issue.

      Enjoy!

It is a bit expensive, but for the quality and value it is so worth it. Like all other reviewers, the bottom line of plastic broke, but the rubber holds it together. It was broken in one spot for a very long time, and just recently it broke in a second spot. Other than that, the case itself is in pristine condition, including my ipod, which is of course the goal. I will soon be getting a second case (just because my current one is looking worn down)

I loved it! It is very protective and slim. Very easy to slide in and out of my pockets. I have had it for about two weeks and is great! I am very clumsy and drop my iPod a lot. Not a single scratch to the iPod! Thank you, Speck!

Got this a little more than a year ago and it's been on my iPod pretty much 24/7 since the day I got it. I've dropped it countless times and without the case my iPod still looks brand new. My only complaint is the little plastic piece on the screen side of the charging port broke about 2 months ago, but the rubber part is still intact (just stretched out). I guess after a year of heavy wear that is to be expected. Thanks Speck!

Great case, I have had mine for about 3 years and I just now need to get a new one. I have dropped my iPod on my hardwood floor a number of times over the years and the case only just recently cracked ( no damage to the iPod). Also, the thin bottom piece does eventually break off, but if you're like me, you'll like it better without that piece.
