I bought this case in the dark purple and I LOVE the color. It looked exactly as described. It is very smooth and fits perfectly. My only complain is within a week, it started peeling a bit on the edges. Its not a deal breaker but I would rather it not happen so quickly.

It makes your laptop heavier but I think it's done a great job of protecting it. Not to mention, it's not one of those cheap cases that break. I've had mine since January 2010 and there's not a single scratch or crack on my laptop or even case for that matter. I recently purchased a peacock colored one because that's my favorite color and the only colors available for my MacBook at the time were Red, Purple, and Black.

The price to me wasn't so bad because I bought it new on eBay, although it was still an original Speck product. I paid $25 versus $40, but I would totally pay full price knowing how well it has served me. I have as a result of owning this case, supported Speck products 100% by buying iPhone cases as well.

I love my new case! I got it in Aubergine and it does look more like the darker purple, but the darker purple is also very pretty, but it depends on the lighting, sometimes it looks black, but other times it looks dark purple, the other plus about it was the free shipping, usually when something has free shipping it doesn't arrive until a week or two after I order it, but this one came in 3 days! I wasn't thrilled about the price, but it was worth it! I am definitely going to consider Speck Products for all my cases for my electronics!

I purchased this case in dark purple from my local PX and have had it on my Macbook Pro for three years. The case has definitely done it's job at protecting my computer, underneath it my Mac is still in immaculate condition. The initial cost was a little high, but worth it in the end. I have had no problems or breakage with it and have purchased other Speck cases for my Kindle and iPhone because of the quality they offer. I am very careful with my electronics and this case is by no means a LifeProof product, but if you are like me and don't take your Mac on the go much or rock climbing etc. this case will work for you.

Overall it's a pretty good product

This was my second speck case for my computer and i ordered it in aubergine. they are all great protectors, i think, but the color was not NEAR the same color as in the picture! if you are wanting the aubergine just know it looks more like the "purple satin" in the picture and not the one it is actually suppose to be. i was pretty disappointed by the color problem but i love the feel of it and im hoping this one continues to protect it just like my old one did.

I recently bought my first Macbook and needed a nice case that protected it; many of my friends that have a Macbook raved at how durable this case was so decided to give it a shot.

While the case provides great protection, there are a few flaws (not so big that it's a problem though):

1. It's recommended that you remove the case every few weeks to clean off gunk that manages to get through. Upon taking it off the first few times, it's extremely difficult! I'm often paranoid that I'm going to break the case.

2. The case also makes my Macbook a bit hotter on the bottom (it becomes REALLY hot whilst charging). It hasn't proved to be a problem (as of yet) but I'm hoping that it doesn't fry the mother board from over heating over time.

3. It also scratches REALLY easily. Then again, better the case than the Macbook itself, right? Still, it's a bit of a turnoff knowing your case has a thousand scratches on it. I've also noticed that the case is kind of peeling off.

Overall, I give it a 4/5. It's very fashionable and protects my Macbook at the same time (it's a plus that the Apple shines through the case).

I bought this case to protect my $1000 laptop from scratches, dents, stuff like that. This case has turned out to be a nightmare. There are 4 circular imprints from the feet on the bottom of my laptop and scratches all over the top and corners of my macbook where the case was supposed to protect it. If you want to ruin your $1000 macbook then go ahead and buy this case. You're 100% better off without it.

This case looks pretty, and keeps my mac looking much better than the scratched up exterior would normally, but overall the case doesn't serve much function. One of the bottom tabs has already broken and I haven't removed it, so the quality is so so. Overall I'm glad with my purchase but don't buy this if you're looking for something to protect the computer, because the quality just doesn't hold up.

I love this brand of cases. I just ordered my second case for the same macbook and i love the quality of them. However, i ordered this cover in aubergine and it arrived a completely different color than was advertised. Although i am disappointed because it is a lot darker than i thought, it still looks nice and hides a lot of the scratches on my computer.
