Speck Launches Industry First Hard Shell for the MacBook Pro 17-Inch

PALO ALTO, CA. May 7, 2007 – Speck today announced that it has launched the industry first hard shell case for the MacBook Pro 17-inch.  The SeeThru Hard Shell is believed to be the first translucent hard shell design for the MacBook 17-inch in the market.  Speck simultaneously launched new SeeThru™ hard shell colors for the MacBook Pro 15-inch and MacBook 13-inch.

We’re excited to bring the latest addition to our family of industry first cases for the MacBook and MacBook Pro, the MacBook Pro 17-inch See-Thru hard shell case,” said Brian Tong, Speck’s Sales Product Manager.  “We are never satisfied and continue to innovate, thus adding a cut-out on the bottom of the MacBook Pro 17-inch allowing our customers access the battery test button.  We also keep pushing the envelope by offering a full range of new colors for our MacBook SeeThru case line that will let your personality and flair shine on your MacBook or MacBook Pro.”

SeeThru hard shells for MacBook and MacBook Pro are made of sturdy, polycarbonate plastic and come in a Speck-trum of colors, red, blue, orange, pink, green, black and clear (color options vary depending upon model).  With the easy snap-on design, users can shield their notebook from scratches and bumps while enjoying access to all features including keyboard, drives and ports.  Shells come complete with rubber feet to help prevent movement on slippery surfaces.  The durable shell is the perfect add-on when transporting your notebook alone, in a sleeve, briefcase or luggage.  The MacBook 17-inch also includes a cutout for the battery test button on the base.

MacBook Pro 17-inch and 15-inch notebook shells, compatible with both the Core Duo and Core 2 Duo versions, are currently shipping to consumers and retail partners with an MSRP of $49.95.  MacBook 13-inch notebook shells are also available for $49.95.
