I bought each color from AT&T before it was available on the speck site (might have been an exclusive with AT&T for awhile). Very good case but back scratches very quickly. This is true with all the candyshell cases except the matte finish. Would be great if they added matte and some more colors! thanks

Great Case w/ the Typical C-Shell Flaw

My opinion of the Speck CandyShell is love/hate. I had two CandyShell's and a Pixel HD for my Samsung GS3. I switched to the Note 2 in early Dec. and got a black/slate CandyShell for it at an AT&T store. C-Shell cases have the POTENTIAL to be great! They offer near-top level protection on all sides w/ an attractive and sleek form-fitting design. However, after only 3 days of use, the shiny black backside was completely scratched up. And not just micro-scratches, but also lots of pretty significant scratches that could be seen even in low light. Maybe I should've known better, I ended up using the Pixel HD on my GS3 bc my two C-Shell's suffered the same fate. And the Pixel HD, imo, is far inferior in fit and protection, closer to a TPU skin.

I know this is a common complaint with the shiny candy paint look of the case and therefore I think Speck should re-visit their design. Maybe put some small "feet" on it so the case's backside doesn't make contact with flat surfaces. Or, even though it would defeat the aesthetic purpose of the CandyShell, make cases with a matte finish so they don't scratch. Or even just make a Pixel HD (or other case) and improve it so that it matches the level of protection and snugness that the C-Shell offers. Once Speck shores up this glaring flaw the CandyShell will be an A++ case. Perfect in function, fit, quality and style.
