there is no easy way to remove the case, its extremely difficult without ripping off the tablet's back cover.
  • Okay but not as good as case for first Nexus 7

I am disappointed that this case is not as well crafted as the one for the first Nexus 7. When I fold the cover back, it is difficult to latch, and it does not lay as flat in my hand. Therefore, it is not as comfortable in my hands when I read. I really wish the company would have crafted it like the first time. I'm nervous that Speck's quantity is increasing and quality is decreasing. I hope this is not the case. I am also slightly disappointed that it is not a smart case. I need to get back in the habit now of manually putting the device to sleep.

Overall the case is okay. It's sturdy, the price is decent, and I like the way of stands.

I just hope that it is recreated to be more like the first case which I really miss.
  • Another thing to consider

The overall quality and build are worth the price. This case provides very good protection. Originally, I would like to give it 5 stars but after I have been using it for 4 months, the part that looks like the elastic bandage connecting between the cover and the locking clasp starts fraying. I think this is what one should also consider beside the lack of magnetic auto on/off.

Really people? I actually prefer using the tablet's sleep button you know with my finger and not a magnet. It's hard for me to understand that when this case is clearly a premium build. Fits perfect 4 different stand angle's, outstanding materials as well as great looking and obviously great protection from whatever physics your day brings to you without making it bulky as it still fits nearly the same as it did before whether it be my regular pocket or my cargo pocket I.d.k. I think your easily tricked by magic I mean a magnet so if your a spoiled brat who would rather have a low quality case and not realize it because it has magic excuse me a magnet then this well crafted versatile and attractive beast of case is too good for you.
  • Horrible design. Takes back cover off when removing

I owned a first gen Nexus 7 Fitfolio case and loved it. This case is horrible compared to that model. Stylistically, the case is great. It looks great and the clasp is snug.

The first design flaw I'm disappointed with is that there is no sleep/wake magnet in the cover. I loved that about the Fitfolio and can't understand why they couldn't implement it into this case (considering the competition add the feature to their cases).

The worst thing about this case is the removal of the tablet. I read that there were issues and was even directed to watch a video on how to remove the item (although they used an iPad Air and not a Nexus 7).

Following the instructions, I started to take my tablet out of the case. I was shocked when I saw the right top corner of my Nexus 7 cover start coming off of the tablet with the case. I don't know if the tabs on the back cover are broken because of this. It took me 4 times to figure out a way to keep the back cover on while carefully removing the case. It was frustrating and I will never use this case again because of that experience.

Where's the auto on / off magnet on this case? I don't understand why Speck offers auto on / off on the FitFolio for the 2012 Nexus 7, but neglect this feature on the case for the 2013 Nexus 7. The best part? They're identically priced. Absurd! I picked up a Blurex case instead for half the price on Amazon; I suggest y'all do the same.

Copy Paste from my Google+ post about this product:
've had my Nexus 7 for several months now and, initially, I was really unhappy with the case my wife and I got for it. It wasn't exactly a "bad" case but it wasn't exactly great either. It allowed me to prop the N7 up to watch videos nicely, etc... but it was pretty bulky and made the N7 feel very heavy and made it too big to put in my pocket... it didn't even fit in the inside pocket of my jacket with the cover on.

So we started digging around and finally found the Spec covers for the N7 and man am I glad I got it. I don't normally share product info because usually it's just a useful means to an end but I've seen others complain about not finding one they're happy with so figured I'd share this. It's a great cover... nicely protects the N7 without adding much weight at all and hardly any size either. It still fits in a pocket with this on and the plastic portion of the case has a neat side effect of pushing the rear facing sound forward toward you when watching video. Sound was never an issue with the N7 but now I can have it turned down a little more and still get great quality sound from it.

Anyway, figured I'd share since I saw others on various threads complaining about not finding good covers. As a bonus it's a nice looking case that's a combinaton of plastic and 'vegan' leather.

My choice for purchasing the StyleFolio was based on researching similar products and reviews of the FitFolio product reviews. When I received the product and assembled it with my Nexus 7 2.0, I found the bottom fit like a glove and cover to bottom match was excellent. The closure secured the cover and bottom adequately and the quality of the materials was very good. This product would have gotten 5 stars had it not been for the lack of the magnetic closure which activates the sleep and wake functions in the Nexus 7. I purchase the StyleFolio from an Office Supply store which advertised as having the auto sleep/wake function but clearly is not part of the StyleFolio which is very disappointing. If you are looking for the sleep/wake function, don’t buy this product. In every other way this product is excellent, but the lack of a key feature is truly disappointing. I will likely return the product and go with someone else’s case.
